how to get started with TikTok Creator Marketplace

Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to get started with TikTok Creator Marketplace

Please see the SOP for manual outreach.

Account Setup

  1. Login to TikTok Creator Marketplace

  2. Link your TikTok account. Click on your username at the top right and go to Account Settings. At the bottom of the page you will see a link, “Link TikTok Account.” Follow the prompts.

  1. Go to “My Brands” and fill out the brand information.

Searching for Influencers

  1. Start by typing a key term in the Search Bar. You will likely have a huge list.

  2. Go to “more filters” and make the search criteria as granular as you want. You can play with these conditions until you find the sweet spot for the influencer who best matches your ideal target.

    1. Examples: keyword, location, customize follower count (50K minimum to start), price is negotiable/free product), topic (if not already sorted by keyword), gender, age

    2. You may need to expand or remove criteria if your results are too limited

    3. If they have a large percentage of a following from a country that is likely “fake followers” don’t include them in your first list. If you are a US based company, make sure their following is primarily in the US.

    4. Categories as of March 2022

  1. Click on the influencer profile and then follow the guidelines in the SOP linked above for tips on reaching out off of TTCM.

  2. In TTCM: You can add Creators to a “to be vetted” shortlist. Go through the list again and watch videos to make sure they are a good fit and then move them into vetted lists segmented as needed. We recommend following them and then liking and commenting on a few of their posts if they are a good match.

  1. Create a campaign that you want them to work on. (SOP)

  2. Set the campaign parameters you want. You will need to complete the Brand Info and Campaign Info, and Customized Flows sections to fit your campaign goals. We recommend negotiating offline as well as leaving the script and creatives to them. They know their audience best. You can require them to get their video approved before posting later.

  3. Once they are on your shortlist, you can invite them to your campaign(s).

  4. Go to “My Activity” and “Campaign Management” to see a list of all the creators you invited.

  1. Click on the campaign name and then look to see if there is a link on the right side - this indicates that they are interested in negotiating a collaboration with you.

  1. Once they do, you can see their contact information by clicking on their name and the “Contact Creator” button. We recommend talking to them off of CM.

  1. Under “Please send collaboration details” we recommend writing a personal message that references something “personal” from their videos. Include their name if possible. We send something like this under “Video Content Guide”

  1. Hi [Creator Name]! This is [your name] from [Company name], we've watched through some of your content - [something personal]! We think you would be awesome to partner with for this promo we're doing. We'll shoot you a follow-up email from [your email address]. We're super flexible and want to just get the word out about our brand, we really want creators to just be creative and fun.

  2. We also select “Script not required” and “Negotiate Offline.” This is our preference, but you can choose your own method.

  1. Follow up immediately with a more detailed email and go from there!

    1. Include the Content Brief details and ask what sample product they want (if there are choices)
